Trusts

Ensuring that your wealth is protected and preserved for future generations is often a key consideration.  A Trust is a legal arrangement which allows you to gift assets in a flexible, tax-efficient and controlled manner for the benefit of the people you choose.

Our investment professionals are experienced in managing Trust portfolios. The flexibility of our bespoke investment management service allows us to manage individual trust structures in line with your investment requirements, or alternatively to manage one investment strategy across several structures where appropriate.

Our investment philosophy is built around prudent investment management, robust risk management, and our strong belief that solely focusing on returns will ultimately lead to taking unnecessary risks.

Trustees have direct access to the person managing the investments; they will work closely with the trustees to deliver a bespoke investment portfolio as well as assisting them in meeting their obligations and responsibilities as trustees.

We have access to Trust experts who can guide you through the process of setting up and managing a trust and work with your other professional and legal advisors over the longer term to ensure the trust meets its objectives.

We are committed to a simple and transparent fee structure which allows Trustees to understand exactly how much they will pay for our investment management services. Any consultation meetings are always at our expense so you can be comfortable in knowing that it will cost you nothing to see if our services are right for you.

Our fees follow simple underlying philosophy:

To be clear and simple at all times – our fee structure is uncomplicated and easy to quantify.

To offer value for money – because we don’t have shareholders or profit targets, it allows us to provide you with competitive fees when compared to our peers.

To be impartial and independent of any provider, product or service - We will always choose the right product for your circumstances and will not receive any hidden commissions or incentives which could have a bearing on that decision

We use a nominee company to hold our clients' assets on their behalf; it reduces costs, minimises paperwork and speeds up transactions, whilst providing rigorous safety procedures and insurance cover.

The safety of our clients’ assets will always be of paramount importance to Bartholomew Hawkins Asset Management and subsequently we have appointed Pershing Securities Limited as our custodian to hold your cash and investments. Founded in 1939, Pershing is a London based subsidiary of BNY Mellon (Bank of New York).  BNY Mellon currently has $29.29 trillion of assets under custody*, conducts business and transactions in markets all over the world and has consistently received ratings that are amongst the highest in the banking and financial services industry from all four major credit rating agencies.

A nominee company is a separate legal entity and its assets are not regarded as assets of Bartholomew Hawkins Asset Management, Pershing or BNY Mellon. The nominee company is run in accordance with all Financial Conduct Authority rules and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) treats clients’ assets held in the nominee company in the same manner as stock registered in clients’ own names.

US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act 2014 (FATCA)read more +

On 1 July 2014 The United States made significant amendments to its tax laws by passing the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), with the aim of reducing global tax evasion.

Although FATCA relates to US tax, it can be onerous on UK based clients as the UK government has signed an Intergovernmental Agreement with the US, under which the provisions of FATCA are implemented in its own regulations.

Please take some time to read our FATCA information document to learn more about the FACTA reporting obligations of UK clients.  However, given the complex nature of this regulation we strongly advise that you seek your own, independent, professional guidance on the matter.
